Dev Diary #1
A quick entry about me. I’m a solo indie developer. In fact, just started learning Unity. Everything you see here (the 3D stuff) I learned and did in the first week. I’ve been programming for a very long time, and have built various products and systems over the years. I’m completely full stack and am an expert in many disciplines such as architecture, design patterns, AI/ML, SaaS software, distributed systems, cloud services, SOA, etc. Long list actually.
When I was young I actually built games on my Apple and C64 because I couldn’t afford to buy them. I’ve designed and run mini-MMO servers (Neverwinter Nights) and led a team of 12 people spanning nearly every continent to build and maintain that world, over 500 areas, hundreds of NPCs, missions, items, etc. All custom designed.
But this is my first time coding a game from scratch in my adult years. Finally embraced Unity and finding it great!
I do have two jobs, so development (for now) will be slow. With enough support in the future I hope to go full time on this as I think it’s a great idea and will attract a lot of interest.
Best,
Darren
